Social Ballroom Classes

Classes at Top Hat Ballroom are geared toward people who would like to have fun while learning to dance. Ballroom dance classes are a great way for couples to do something fun together and to make friends with other couples. Top Hat classes are structured so that you can join at any time. Every class begins with the most basic technique. Social ballroom dance is something that just about anyone can enjoy. The basic steps are very similar to walking – except in time to music.

Top Hat uses the Dance Vision International (DVIDA®) Syllabus which is recognized by The National Dance Council of America ®. Our group classes follow specific guidelines that build a basic understanding of the dances and how they relate to each other. This understanding of the basics helps students progress at a quicker pace when they reach more advanced levels.

Top Hat teaches beginner classes in groups of three dances. The Smooth dances include Waltz, Fox Trot, and Tango. The Rhythm dances include Cha-Cha, Rumba and East Coast Swing. Intermediate dancers may also learn Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Night Club Two Step and Viennese Waltz .

• Beginner Class: Tuesday Evenings 6:30 – 7:30
• Intermediate Classes: Tuesdays Evenings 7:30 – 8:30 and Wednesday Evenings 7:00 – 8:00

Dance Grooves

A special class for people who choose to come without a dance partner. In this class you will learn the actual dance steps and technique. Gail teaches mostly Rhythm dances like Cha-Cha, Rumba, Salsa, Merengue and Bachata. Sometimes we even Waltz. It’s a small class but we have big fun!
